Using a map of the Hawkes Bay region as a point of departure, this work questions the practice of sandwiching organic landforms between rigid grid structures of man's design; the bottom grid, a tool for measuring and quantifying the land, the top grid a tool to impose order in the form of roads, buildings and related infrastructure.
